Merry Christmas!!!!!!

We are such slackers and have been so busy these past few weeks we haven't had a chance to update you on what's happening in our lives.

We want to remember Tim's Grandma. She passed away early this month after some battles with illness. She was an amazing women and was an example to us of following the examples of Christ. She was so kind, loving, caring, and generous. She loved her family, and most recently loved seeing Shyler and Calvin. She was the envy of the nursing home when the babies came to visit. We love you Grandma Irwin!

Shyler Tim and I had a great Christmas. Shyler got spoiled and got tons of toys, clothes, and a new car seat. The car seat was an early present and good thing because at her 9 month check up this month she measured 30 in long!!! The length limit on her old seat is 29. She also weighed 17 lb 14 oz. That moved her into the 97th% and 25th%!!!!! She is still our long skinny baby!

Shyler loves to play in her box from the car seat and Tim even cut out a door, a window, and a little sun rood so she could stand up in it!

Shyler and Tim got in a war with the baby powder and it looks like Tim won. Well, really he just thought it was closed and he squeezed it and it got all over her face, it was pretty funny though.

I've been working a couple days a week at Pier 1 and Tim watches Shyler at night. She stays up late waiting for me, but eventually falls asleep. One night I came home to this. She looked so cute cuddled up with her daddy!

I go to the Breastfeeding Support group at the hospital still, aka the boob group, and Shyler loves to play with her friends. Elizabeth, Marsden, and Shyler are only 10 days apart.

The Saturday before Christmas, Tim's sisters and I got together and baked Christmas goodies. Shyler was so good all day she got her first sugar cookie!! She is a little cookie monster and definitely takes after her mommy in that area.

Christmas Eve we spent part of the night at Amanda's sister Kelli's house. Shyler had fun helping open presents, well mostly just playing in the tissue paper afterwards. Also in the picture is her cousin Tyler, and saying Shyler and Tyler all night definitely was confusing her.

Amanda's Mom excited about her new shoes!

Christmas morning! Amanda got some fancy pajamas that are actually long enough in the sleeve!!! I always have the problem that pajama sets aren't long enough in the tops, but Tim found a good deal and a size Long in pajamas from Victoria's Secret.

Tim was also such a thoughtful husband and found this ceder chest for me and is working on refinishing it for me! I have always wanted one and he found a great deal on this one at a garage sale! It's still in progress, but I am so excited about it!

Shyler and her cousin Calvin playing with a new toy!

Merry Christmas from the Miller's!!!!!!

We are so thankful for this holiday season and for the chance to remember the birth of our Savior. We are thankful to remember the sacrifices He made for us and for the example he set to us. We hope that not only at Christmas, but throughout all the year we can follow His example and be like Him. We love this time of year and we love having so many family and friends to share it with. Thanks for being a part of our lives!

9 Months

I forgot to say it on our last post, but today Shyler is 9 months old!!! She is growing up so fast!!! She doesn't have too many new tricks, she waves a little, claps, crawls everywhere, climbs up, on, and over whatever she wants and gives us the best smiles!!! She also likes to make the gesture that looks like she is saying, "I don't know." We love her so much and are so happy and grateful to have her bright light in our life!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, It's Christmas time!!!

We hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving!!! We had a good time with our family. We went to Tim's parents house and Amanda's mom was able to join us. We are so lucky to have both sides of our familes near by.

On of our traditions that we have done for the last 3 Thanksgivings is to go to the shopping center at Stapleton to see the light display that blinks to the Trans Siberian orchestra. We love their music and it means a little something extra to Tim and I because one of our memorable dates we went on was to their concert.

Shyler looked interested in the music and the lights, but she was not interested in sitting in her stroller for long. So sorry the video doesn't really show her, but you can hear the music and sort of see the flashes of light.

She was happy to have her Aunt Jeannette come along too.

I was one of those crazy people and went shopping on Black Friday. I went with 2 of my sister-in-laws and shopped all morning, then went to work at Pier 1 for 4 hours, and then we drove to Fort Collins to visit my friend Andrea. It was a long long long day, but I wouldn't have done it any other way... well maybe I wouldn't have worked!!!

I am so mad at myself for not going to Jo-ann's to get the flannel that was on sale for $1.49/ yd!!! My advise for black Friday is that Wal-mart is really not that fun that early, but Kohl's isn't too bad if you have someone to trade off standing in line and shopping with, also Target wasn't bad at all. We hope you are excited for the Christmas season, we are!!! We finally put our tree up on Sunday night. Shyler loved helping and was very excited to try and eat the lights. She really loved the jingle bell ornament though, she was shaking it and banging it against the tin plate we have.

It has happened

Just as we thought, Shyler has her mother's chin!!!! She loves to make this crooked smile and show off her two little teeth and her chin!!! She also LOVED eating her little biter biscuit that made a huge mess!

Also, Amanda would like to let you all know that she is now obsessed!!! She started reading the Twilight series of books and now Tim doesn't really have a wife and Shyler barely has a mom. She is obsessed. Unfortunately for her she only borrowed the first 2 books from her sister and niece and now she has to wait to get the other 2! So for now she's back to the land of the living and Shyler and Tim are happy again. She is going to see the movie on Friday with some of the other obsessed women she goes to church with. Funny story though, last night we saw a story about the movie on the news and they were talking about all the teenage girls obsessed with this movie ... she felt a little silly being on the same level as the 13 year old girls, but oh well. There are others out there like her...Cheramie...Melanie... Valarie... just to name of few of our fellow bloggers. It's just fun sometimes to get engrossed in a book or a series of books, it's good for you, it keeps your mind sharp!

2 new posts!!!!

Halloween

Trick or treat! Shyler helping carve the pumpkin and play in the pumpkin guts!

Shyler trying to eat the pumpkin

Our first attempt at carving our pumpkin. Unfortunately the pumpkin was a little soft and we messed up a lot...
So Tim carved the other side as a back up!

Shyler ready to pass out Halloween candyHehehe... Shyler ready to eat Halloween candy!

Hanging out waiting for Trick or Treaters. Shyler found Tim's inhaler once we took away the candy.

Helping daddy take the pumpkin outside.
She also discovered she could stick her tongue in her cheek. Which combined with her trying to eat candy with peanuts in it ended up freaking us out. Luckily Tim watched her pop her tongue back and forth into her cheek and we could breathe a sigh of relief. Otherwise we thought we were going to have to take her to an urgent care for a peanut allergy attack.

Tim mohawked her hair and you can kind of see it in this picture. Also if you notice she's playing with an Easter basket and eggs. Her new favorite toy, someone should tell her it's the wrong time of year for that...

Slackers

So we've been quite the slackers, sorry. We have a good excuse, sort of. In the last month Shyler has been sick twice!!!! once it was just a fever maybe from teething, but last week Shyler and Amanda had pretty bad colds, luckily we are pretty much recovered, minus the cough.
We have lots of pictures to share though...

Shyler making her smoochy face. It is really fun to watch and see, but hard to get on camera

For some reason Shyler wanted to play in her exersaucer and not in it. Lately she prefers to stand up next to it and play with the toys anyways.

A couple weeks ago we got to watch Calvin all day while Sarah went to the temple. It wasn't too bad, most of the afternoon one of them was awake and the other one was napping.

Grandma and her little Bronco fans, too bad they keep losing!

Shyler and her Grandpa at their Trunk or Treat

Shyler and her Grandma trying to give her a kiss

Tinkerbell and Dumbo

Shyler got her face painted, it was a little green star. She actually was really good while she painted it.

Trunk or Treat!!! We took Shyler trunk to trunk to experience her first Trunk or Treat. Mostly we were excited to eat her candy! She did good holding the bucket until she realized there was stuff in it.
Then Calvin and Shyler sat in Grandma and Grandpa's Trunk!

Weddings and Vampires, oh my!

Shyler really likes to fall asleep during weddings, they must not be happening enough for her... Or maybe it's the fact that they go late into the evening.
Last weekend we got to go to Jon and Holly Deppe's wedding. It was small and simple but very beautiful and it was a great time to show Shyler off to Tim's friends from freshman year. We had fun visiting and Shyler had fun crawling around the hardwood floors in tights and of course making faces at everyone, especially Betty.

The sleeping didn't really last that long, she woke up to "Sweet Home Alabama" with a what'd I miss look on her face.

And then something strange happened....

Shyler got a full mouth of teeth that were slightly green tinted and pointed like Vampire teeth. It must come from the Miller side of the family...

Or does Amanda have a secret she hasn't told anyone about?

7 Months old!!

Tomorrow Shyler is 7 months old and is an expert crawler. Here's a video of her crawling to Amanda and showing off. The only bad thing is, now she is also getting into everything!

Shyler is very excited for the Broncos season. For the last 2 games she has been cheering them on in her cheerleading outfit Grandpa bought her. We just have to be careful how loud we cheer, because she gets scared easily.

The other day I went in to check on Shyler during her nap, and instead of sleeping she was just hanging out. Silly girl! She's really good at sitting up now. Often times we will go in to get her and she will be sitting up in the middle of the crib.

This past Friday we were able to go on another hike. This time Shyler found the backpack quite comfortable and took a little nap on her mommy's back.

On Friday we also got the go the Rockies game, compliments of Tim's work. Since it was fan appreciation night and we were sitting in left field we got to go onto the field and watch the fireworks! Shyler liked them in the beginning, but the finale was pretty loud so she did not like that part.

At least they won! GO ROCKIES!

Some other notable events in our life...meaning shyler's, include Shyler's first cold. Poor girl was stuffed up and had a runny nose with a little cough, but she's better now. Also she has a second tooth! It's very exciting and if she grins at you, you can see two little teeth coming up. Shyler also is crawling around much more. She can get on her hands and knees and cruise around pretty well. Tim and Amanda are doing well too. Tim is working hard at work. He went to the career fair at CSU for work and he took some Indians that were working with him up to Mt. Evans so they could see snow and play in it.

Tooth Eruption

Big day in the world of an infant...
Today when Shyler was giving one of her adorable grins to Amanda, she noticed what looked like a hole in her gums. After sticking a finger on Shyler's gum it turns out the hole was making way for a little tooth to pierce through that we could even feel. It's crazy to see this little hole on a babies gum and know that there are little teeth coming up. This along with a visit to the doctor for shots on Thursday explains a long and cranky weekend we had with Shyler.

Silly Clothes...
This is Shyler today. Amanda put her in this cute outfit that Patti Tucker gave her. Only thing about this outfit is that it is so cute and I didn't think it would fit her because it was a size 6-12 month outfit, so I put it away with 9 month clothes thinking it would be bigger. Well, turns out she could have been enjoying its cuteness a lot earlier because it fits like all of her other 6 month outfits. So for you soon to be first time moms, don't go by what the tags say, they don't always fit the same way as other clothes of that size. Also, if you have a tall skinny baby like Shyler, Carters is one of the best brands, all of the others seem to be made for very fat short babies.

Our Nephew...
Conner Aiden Hansen
Born Sept 4, 2008 6:08 pm
9 lb 1 oz 20 in
We are so excited to have a new addition to the family. For those that don't know, Conner is the son of Amanda's brother Matt and his wife Stephanie and they live in San Antonio, TX.

Growing Girl...
We wanted to see how big Shyler has gotten, so here she is at about 4 weeks and a little more than 6 months. It's crazy how fast they grow when they are this little. FYI, the green pad and the pink flowered pad are the same size.
At her visit Shyler came in at 15 lb 15 oz and was 27 inches, that keeps her in the same percentiles that she has been, 50 for weight and 90 for length.

A hiking we will go...
Even with our cranky baby, we were still able to go on a hike this past Sat. It wasn't super long, but it was still fun to get out and use our cool backpack. She really enjoyed looking around and seeing what was new in the world... for about 45 minutes, and then she was done. We hope to go again this weekend too!
